Links and Files for the Talk at the Kinnelon Library June 20, 2013 -- Gadgets for the Desktop in Win 7, 8 and Vista, etc.

Just Plug it into a USB port and ...


So we want to know what's going on with our computers but we don't have the "Dashboard Instruments" to tell us what the equivalent of RPM, Oil Pressure, or Water Temp is for our PCs.

They are available.

Following are links to the Win7, 8, and Vista Gadgets which you can install to your Desktop and which will tell you how hard your CPU is working, what the temperature of your CPU is, how much RAM is being used, what Programs and Processes are using the Most CPU time, the Most Memory and doing the Most Disk IO. You will know if and when you are having Network Connection Problems, what your Internal and External IP Adresses are, and what the level of your Network Activity is.

Check them out in your Security Scanner of choice, install them. For those of you using Norton 360, right mouse click on the file you want to check, which brings up the context menu, and left click on Norton 360 and Scan Now before

For Windows 8 there are some special instructions to get Gadgets working which I will include further along.
